Infrared NH3
IR-F4-NH3-0/2%-N4

The IR-F4-NH3 ammonia sensor incorporates a pulsed infrared source, a gas sample cell, optical filter and detector which provides an electrical output (4-20mA linear) converted to gas concentration values. There are no moving parts.

Characteristics

  • Long Life (i.e., 8-10 years). Sensor life is not shortened if exposed to interferent gas.
  • Sensor is very selective to NH3. Will not trip on most gases present around machine rooms and food processing facilities.
  • Should only be used for trip levels at 1% to 2% NH3 concentrations (i.e., no lower).
  • For temperatures below +40°F, the IR-NH3 must have the optional ATMOS equipped® technology that allows it to meet all of its performance specifications down to -50° F and in condensing humidity environments or during washdown. ATMOS (Adaptive Temperature and Moisture Optimizing System) is a comprehensive, enviro-adaptive technology that actually senses the surrounding environment and creates a controlled, mini-atmosphere inside the sensor enclosure to optimize the air sample quality. ATMOS allows the IR-NH3 to automatically adapt to its environment and provide accurate and reliable performance under the harshest conditions.
  • Keep sensors away from variable speed drives, walkie-talkies, radio repeaters, high pressure sodium / mercury vapor lights and vibrating surfaces.
  • Sensor exhibits excellent fail-safe characteristics. This unit in almost all cases will not fail silently.

Where to apply

  • Ideal for machine rooms where ventilation air may be contaminated, i.e., make up air from inside plant versus outside air.
  • Good for enclosed freezers, coolers, docks where semi-conductor and catalytic combustion sensors could be contaminated by silicone and solvent vapors from insulation and other low level contaminants.
  • An ideal sensor for system shutdown when NH3 concentration reaches the low percent (%) levels.
