GM-10
Multi-Channel Gas Monitoring System

The GM-10 is a multi-channel stand-alone monitoring/safety system that supports up to ten (10) Manning Systems gas detection sensors and can interface with the plant central safety controls.

Modular construction allows easy addition of one or two Relay Output Boards (providing up to 40 extra relay outputs) and a GM-10-AOB Analog Output Board for individual 4/20 mA output from each channel (total of 10).

Manning Systems new GM-4 is an economical solution for small installations (2 - 4 sensors) or as a complementary system to the GM-10 when only a few additional sensors are required.

Typical Specs includes CAD and PDF drawings for a GM-10 (CAD / PDF) and GM-4 (CAD / PDF) to assist you in integrating them into a complete system design. The drawings include wiring layouts for a selection of electrochemical, infrared and vent line sensors, with typical output control functions and auxiliary alarm or power backup equipment.

General Description

The GM-10 will support any combination of Manning Systems fixed sensors for gases, including NH3, CO2, H2, CO, Cl2, CFCs, HCFCs, HFCs, CH4, O2 and more.

Gas selective sensor technologies measure selected PPM setpoints from OSHA's Permissible Exposure Limit (PEL) and the Threshold Limit Value/Short-Term Exposure Limit (TLV-STEL) up to the Lower Explosive Limit (LEL) range and indicate concentration levels with bargraph displays.

Field adjustable setpoints for each channel allow the operator to easily set or adjust warning and alarm trip levels at the main control panel.

Each channel of the GM-10 features a 20-segment LED bargraph that indicates gas concentration, and three types of visual status indicators. The Warning LED, indicating that the operator-selected warning setpoint has been exceeded, triggers the common warning relay and the individual warning relay for that channel on the optional relay board.

The Alarm LED operates in a similar manner for the alarm level, but also triggers the common horn relay and buzzer which can be cleared manually. A fault on any channel triggers the common fault and horn relays and buzzer.

When any channel goes into a specified trip condition, common relays for Warning, Alarm, Fault and auxiliary Horn will be activated.

Unlike sample draw systems, gas detection by diffusion method gives continuous monitoring of all protected areas simultaneously. This system covers the leak detection requirements and indicates gas concentration status for an entire plant at a single glance. The GM-10 can interface to, but operates independently of, plant control systems. It offers the ultimate in reliability and ease of maintenance.

The GM-10 is an integral monitoring component of MPSS. The Manning Primary Safety System (MPSS) is a total, turnkey solution for the detection of toxic gas leaks showing gas safety status of an entire industrial facility at a single glance. It provides a "hardened" gas safety equipment system utilizing dedicated MPSS electrochemical and infrared sensors connected in realtime to GM-10, GM-4 or GM-1 dedicated central gas alarm monitors – all protected by a single uninterruptible power system. Multiple relays trigger key emergency safety control of equipment shutdown functions and allow Emergency Responders to easily assess an ammonia or other gas leak situation - even in the event of computer viruses, operating system crashes or human error.

The "C" and "US" indicator adjacent to the CSA Mark signifies that the product has been evaluated to the applicable ANSI/UL and CSA Standards for use in the U.S. and Canada. This includes products eligible to bear the NRTL indicator. NRTL, i.e. Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, is a designation granted by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to laboratories which have been recognized to perform certification to U.S. Standards.
