EC
Single Gas Electrochemical Sensor
The EC sensor provides a simple and reliable system for detecting gas leaks in almost any environment, responding rapidly to gas concentrations in the low ppm range without interference from most common gases. The EC is particularly suited for food processing plants where "gas specific" sensing is a requirement.
Manning Systems EC can be configured specifically to monitor many gases with a choice of ranges. See listing of gases and ranges. EC is shown with optional GM-JR mounted in sensor enclosure.
General Description
Manning Systems single gas EC sensor consists of a pair of polarized electrodes isolated from ambient air by a gas permeable membrane. As gas diffuses into the sensor, a redox reaction occurs, generating a current linearly proportional to gas concentration.
Unlike many other sensors, this gas diffusion unit exhibits excellent zero and calibration stability over long periods of time.
Shown with the optional GM-JR-SE, the EC can be used with any Manning Systems Readout/Alarm unit. Most readouts have built-in visual and audible alarms, as well as relay output. In addition, the EC can provide direct input into PLCs and computer control systems which accept a linear 4/20 mA signal.
The EC enclosure with optional ATMOS equipped® technology allows it to meet all of its performance specifications down to -50° F and in condensing humidity environments or during washdown.
Use #18/3 shielded cable (Belden #8770 or equal) for wiring runs up to 1500'.
Monitor one to 96 sensors from a single controller
All Manning Systems sensors can be monitored by the GM-1 single channel gas monitor or the GM-10 or GM-4 multi-channel gas safety systems that provide an individual bargraph display of gas concentration for each channel, plus relay outputs for emergency response and ventilation control.
The new AirAlert 96d multi-channel gas monitoring system adds addressable RS-485 Modbus communication protocol to the broad line of Manning Systems readout/alarm units. A total of 96 gas sensors and relay modules can be linked to a single controller.
The redundancy provided by a Manning Primary Safety System (MPSS) gives an extra measure of gas monitoring protection and peace of mind. In addition, The EC-F9-NH3 can provide direct input into PLCs and computer control systems which accept a linear 4/20 mA signal either directly from the sensor or from Manning Systems GM-10, GM-4 and GM-1 stand-alone alarm consoles with relay or analog output.
The "C" and "US" indicator adjacent to the CSA Mark signifies that the product has been evaluated to the applicable ANSI/UL and CSA Standards for use in the U.S. and Canada. This includes products eligible to bear the NRTL indicator. NRTL, i.e. Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratory, is a designation granted by the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to laboratories which have been recognized to perform certification to U.S. Standards.
