AirScan iCO2
Infrared Carbon Dioxide Sensor

Available in the fall of 2006, the Manning Systems AirScan™ iCO2 infrared gas sensor is designed to determine and transmit the carbon dioxide content of air in an industrial environment and is an excellent sensor for food processing and storage facilities. It senses and indicates carbon dioxide and provides a linear output of 4/20 mA as a function of carbon dioxide concentration. Ranges available are 0-5,000 ppm, 0-1% (10,000 ppm) and 0-5% (50,000 ppm). It includes the SensorCheck™ safety advantage, and when ordered with the optional ATMOS equipped® technology, can meet all of its performance specifications down to -50° F and in condensing humidity environments or during washdown.

General Description

The AirScan™ iCO2 is an ideal remote sensor to interface with any central control unit for the monitoring and control of carbon dioxide.

Gas detection by the infrared method is based on the principle that most gases absorb infrared energy at a characteristic frequency. Any CO2 in the gas sample cell selectively absorbs energy reaching the detector. This change in energy is detected, amplified and sent to the signal processing portion of the system. The sensor contains a pulsed infrared source, a gas sample cell, optical filter and a detector, which provides an electronic output that can be converted into gas concentration values.

Monitor one to 96 sensors from a single controller

All Manning Systems sensors can be monitored by the GM-1 single channel gas monitor or the GM-10 or GM-4 multi-channel gas safety systems that provide an individual bargraph display of gas concentration for each channel, plus relay outputs for emergency response and ventilation control.

The new AirAlert™ 96d multi-channel gas monitoring system adds addressable RS-485 Modbus communication protocol to the broad line of Manning Systems readout/alarm units. A total of 96 gas sensors and relay modules can be linked to a single controller.
