Manning Systems Announces Acquisition by Honeywell, Anticipates Continued Industry Leadership
Manning Systems announces that as of March 27, 2006 it has become part of Honeywell's Gas Sensing division, a part of its Automation and Control Solutions (ACS) business. This integration stems from Honeywell's announcement to acquire the entire issued share capital of First Technology, parent company of Manning Systems and BW Technologies, LTD since 2004. The most significant adjustment to the organizational structure of Manning will be that it not function as a business unit of BW Technologies, LTD.
The acquisition by Honeywell will prove to be mutually beneficial for both organizations. Manning Systems will continue to position itself for continued growth as the cutting edge developer of first rate gas detection products, whereas Honeywell will have the opportunity to expand its gas detection product and service offerings, extend its reach through multiple distribution networks and capitalize on strong customer relationships, and enhance manufacturing, marketing and service expertise and efficiencies.
According to Bill Schadler, National Sales Manager for Manning Systems, "we expect that the culture and overall structure of Manning will not change, instead we will use this opportunity to reinforce our position as an industry leader through enhanced marketing efforts and improved economies of scale."
Improved Ammonia Gas Cylinders for Calibration
Manning Systems newly formed integration with Honeywell Analytics, the global innovator and world leader in gas detection solutions, has resulted in positive changes to our gas calibration products.
These changes include improvements to the ammonia cylinders in our calibration gas product line furthering our commitment to the maintenance calibration of Honeywell Analytics Manning sensors.
- Our new ammonia calibration cylinder now contains 29 liters of gas instead of 17 liters -- an increase of 70%.
- In addition to more ammonia, the improved cylinder will now have a shelf life guarantee for one year versus the previous six-month guarantee.
- This higher quantity of gas partnered with a longer shelf life will provide more calibrations per bottle with enhanced time flexibility.
- As always, all Honeywell Analytics Manning calibration gas cylinders are NIST (National Institute of Standards and Technology) traceable, so you can feel confident that they are produced in accordance with the highest quality standards in the industry.
- Honeywell Analytics will continue to offer a full line of calibration gases.
- The Manning flow meter has been replaced by an improved fixed-flow regulator that is both rugged and easier to use, most notably in blast freezers, chillers, and coolers.
Contact Honeywell Analytics for pricing on the new Manning ammonia cylinder. Note that the 29 liter gas bottles will now require a #518 regulator while the 17 liter bottles will use a #418 regulator.
Honeywell Analytics is the global leader in the manufacturing of toxic and flammable gas detection systems with expanded product offerings, highly responsive service and expert support. Our improved line of calibration gases lends to this effort.

The SensorCheck Safety Advantage
Manning Systems introduces its new family of sensors with microprocessor-based SensorCheck technology designed to monitor several sensor performance parameters and send a notification signal of operating conditions to the appropriate readout unit or PLC. SensorCheck features vary depending on the sensor technology, i.e., electrochemical or infrared.
EC-F9-NH3 Ammonia Specific Electrochemical Sensor
The EC-F9-NH3 gas sensor with SensorCheck features the industry-leading performance of Manning electrochemical gas detection technology and adds a built-in system to monitor and predict the sensor's electrical viability. With revolutionary new SensorCheck technology, the EC-F9-NH3 is tested every 24 hours for electrical viability. If a sensor dries up or is disconnected, SensorCheck sends an indication that can be detected by a Manning Systems Gas Monitor or a PLC. The EC-F9-NH3 was recently developed for RS-485 communication that makes it compatible with the AirAlert™ 96d controller.
The EC-F9 offers an LCD display option that will indicate ppm gas concentration during normal operation and show sensor operation status for changes in operating mode, calibration procedures and troubleshooting.
AirScan iR Infrared Refrigerant Gas Sensor
The AirScan iR is a true "diffusion" design refrigerant sensor that does not require either pumps or filters and allows all points of detection to be monitored continuously at an affordable cost. Every two seconds SensorCheck technology monitors the AirScan iR source and ensures that the dual channels are functioning properly. A notification signal will be transmitted if any of several performance parameters is not met. Standard operating temperature is -40º F to +140º F and, with the patented Manning ATMOS equipped® enclosure, can operate down to -50º F.
AirAlert 96d Multi-channel Gas Readout with RS-485 Communication Protocol
The new AirAlert 96d adds addressable RS-485 Modbus communication protocol to the broad line of Manning Systems readout / alarm units. A total of 96 gas sensors and relay modules can be linked to a single controller.
GM-4000 Self-contained Four-channel Readout
The GM-4000 is a competitively priced microprocessor-based four-channel controller with relays and alarms that delivers 24 VDC power to any 4/20 mA transmitter for toxic gases, combustibles and oxygen hazards. Designed for installation and operational simplicity.
GasAlertExtreme Now Available for 0-400 ppm Ammonia
In response to customer demand for an extended range to Manning Systems very popular GAXT-A, we recently introduced to the market the GAXT-A2 that monitors ammonia in the range of 0-400 ppm. This inexpensive, compact personal protection portable is highly water-resistant and features a large, easy-to-read display that includes a built-in backlight to ensure legible readings even in dim light conditions. An extra loud audible alarm, flashing LED light bars, and built-in vibrator alert users to hazardous conditions.
GasAlertMicro 5 Features Five-Gas Monitoring Capability
With a comprehensive range of features and functions, GasAlertMicro 5 has set a new benchmark in multi-gas detection. At just 7.3 oz., the GasAlertMicro 5 portable gas detector simultaneously monitors and displays up to five potential atmospheric hazards including oxygen, combustible gases and a range of toxic gases, including H2S, CO, O2, SO2, PH3, NH3, NO2, HCN, Cl2, ClO2, and O3. Continuous LCD shows simultaneous gas concentrations for up to five gases. Records TWA, STEL, and maximum exposures to gas and displays readings on command. Many user selectable field options.
GasAlertMicro 5 PID Five-Gas Detector Includes VOC Measurement
The new GasAlertMicro 5 PID portable gas detector simultaneously monitors up to five atmospheric hazards including volatile organic compounds (VOCs), oxygen, combustible gas (% LEL), and a wide selection of individual electrochemical toxic sensors. Compact and lightweight, GasAlertMicro 5 PID activates audible, visual and vibrating alarms in the event of a low, high, TWA or STEL alarm condition.
GasAlertMicroClip Very Economical Four-gas Monitor for Confined Space Entry
The GasAlertMicroClip monitors oxygen, combustible gases (% LEL), hydrogen sulfide, and carbon monoxide in a light-weight compact, inpact-resistant enclosure. Includes dependable lithium polymer rechargeable battery, charging adapter capable of completely recharging the battery within three hours and interactive training CD.
Remote Dual Alarm Relay Module
The RDARM is a 4/20 mA feed-through device designed to provide remote dual stage alarm relay outputs and can be used with any Manning Systems sensor. Setpoint adjustment is by a two-position switch, allowing standard or unique trip levels.
Coming Soon! AirAlert PLCi Economical 16-Channel Interface from Manning Sensors to PLC
The AirAlert PLCi is an analog to digital interface unit with integral +24 VDC power supply, Ethernet interface and embedded web server with virtual control panel.
